Drinkers of ZOÉGAS TERAZZA Coffee to Help Build Well in Ethiopian Village

The village of Homa, 10 hours drive south of the Ethiopian capital Addis Abeba, lies within a cooperative called Oromia that produces FAIRTRADE and ORGANIC marked coffee for ZOÉGAS.

Today, villagers must traverse a 36 kilometre round trip with donkey and cart to access water for daily use. Often this time consuming and exhausting chore is allocated to the children of the village.
For this reason, ZOÉGAS has launched a campaign to help fund the construction of a well within the village. Between May and September 2009 we hope to sell at least five tonnes of ZOÉGAS TERAZZA FAIRTRADE and ORGANIC marked coffee, equating to 25 000 packets or half a million cups of coffee. For each packet sold, three kronor will be contributed towards the project, assisting to fund the materials, equipment and labour required.

This initiative is part of Nestlé’s Creating Shared Value business strategy which seeks to create value for all stakeholder groups connected with the company’s global operations. By Creating Shared Value within the region of Oromia Nestlé is ensured a continuous supply of high quality Arabica beans so ZOÉGAS coffee drinkers can continue to enjoy the mildly spicy and rich aftertaste of ZOÉGAS TERAZZA coffee now and into the future.
