Nestlé Announces New Creating Shared Value Initiatives
On the 27th of April 2009, Nestlé launched a two day forum on Creating Shared Value in New York, in collaboration with the United Nations Office for Partnerships and the Mission of Switzerland to the United Nations. During the forum Nestlé announced three new company initiatives to further highlight its commitment to Creating Shared Value. The initiatives took the form of an expanded education program focused on nutrition, health and wellness for school age children around the world, a research and development centre in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, and a new Nestlé Prize in Creating Shared Value, awarded every second year to foster innovative approaches to solve problems of nutrition, water and rural development. The initiatives come amidst a period of deep economic recession, revealing Nestlé’s Creating Shared Value initiatives to be an inherent part of the company’s business strategy, not optional add-ons to be dismissed in times of economic downturn.
